Hypochondria

I went to see me doctor the other day. I told him I thought I was suffering from hypochondria. I already knew I had it. I had researched the symptoms and clearly exhibited all of them, from runny nose to ringing ears to toenail pain.

After taking a few x-rays, he returned to the exam room and put his hand on my shoulder. “I’m afraid you’re right,” he said, “and it looks like a full-blown case.”

I asked him if there was anything we could do. I remembered reading that sometimes, a drug called “placebo” did wonders for patients in similar circumstances.

“Yes,” he replied, “but I don’t prescribe them anymore. Too many patients have abused them.”

So I was forced to go home that day, suffering with a full-blown case of hypochondria, with no medication whatsoever….

I hate it when my health has to suffer because of the mistakes of others.
